Hello, I am Surjeet Singh, the founder of the Centre for Education and Health Research Organization (CEHRO India). I established CEHRO India in 2012 after earning my B.E. from Netaji Subhas University of Technology (formerly known as the Institute of Technology), New Delhi.

Our non-profit organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, is dedicated to the holistic development of children, focusing on education, health, and skill development. We specifically serve children whose parents work as sanitation workers, ragpickers, or daily wage laborers.

Let me share a story that motivated us to start one of our most supported annual campaigns, the “Chhoti Si Asha: CEHRO India’s Winter Drive 2024-25”

Whenever our teachers visit the slums to hold classes at our centers, they often see children struggling during the harsh winters. Many of them don’t have enough warm clothes to protect them from the cold, and some even walk around barefoot or in worn-out slippers. It’s heartbreaking to see these children shivering in thin clothing, which does little to keep them warm.

Most of the clothes they wear are donated from places where their parents work as sanitation workers. Unfortunately, these clothes are often not the right size or in good condition. Children end up wearing oversized or tight clothes simply because they have no other options. This makes the cold weather even harder to endure, affecting their health and well-being.

This situation hampers the overall growth of these children and diminishes their interest in education. Understanding the importance of proper clothing during harsh winters, every year we run our annual winter drive. so we can ensure these children have warm, comfortable clothes and shoes during the winter months.

Why support our winter drive?

Many children across the slums we support face bitter winters with inadequate clothing. Each winter, our team sees children braving the cold without proper shoes or warm layers, making them vulnerable to illness. This year, our Winter Drive Campaign aims to provide new warm clothes and shoes to 500 children across three slums in South-West Delhi.

Since 2016, our Annual Winter Drive has reached over 7,000 children in need, providing warmth and dignity even during the COVID-19 crisis. With your help, we can make a difference this year for children in Munirka Village, Nepali Camp, Bhanwar Singh Camp, and neighboring areas.

Why Gifting New Clothing Matters

Our objective is to provide new, warm clothes and shoes—not second-hand or discarded ones—because when children receive new clothing, their happiness is immense. It boosts their self-esteem and directly motivates them to achieve better academic results. Many of these children come from families where parents earn very little, making it difficult for their kids to afford new clothes. Throughout the year, these children often wear second-hand clothes donated by places where their parents work, and most of the time, these clothes are not even the right size for them.

How You Can Support

Schools and college students can mobilize their societies and help groups to collect resources. You can also connect with our team, and after receiving details about the children, you can purchase new winter clothes and distribute them at our centers.

Our Goal for Winter Drive 2024-25

Our goal is to provide brand-new winter clothes and shoes to 500 underprivileged children across three slums in Southwest Delhi, helping them stay warm and protected during the harsh winter months. Our mission is to ensure that the most vulnerable children in these communities are equipped with proper winter clothing. Many of these children face winter wearing tattered clothes or going barefoot, making them highly susceptible to illness. By providing warm clothing, we aim to reduce health risks and improve their overall well-being during this challenging season. We are committed to bringing warmth and comfort to 500 underprivileged children across South west Delhi. About the Centre for Education and Health Research Organization

CENTRE FOR EDUCATION AND HEALTH RESEARCH ORGANIZATION (CEHRO INDIA) is a philanthropic organization registered under the 1860 Societies Act, with an aim to help the underprivileged and neglected sections of society realize their dreams of living a respectful and dignified life by catering to their basic needs of education, health, and employment.

On 12th March 2012, we started the organization with 50 underprivileged children and one center. To date, we have supported more than 2,000 children, and now we have five centers. Around 45% of our children come from critically poor families, and around 71% of them are girl students. We primarily serve migrant families who are critically poor, with an annual income of less than 1 lakh. Children from these families are mostly first-generation learners and are deprived of basic needs.

By 2030, every migrant poverty-affected child in Munirka and nearby Slums will be given an inclusive, supportive, and progressive environment so that she/he can grow to their full potential.
